There are some great roads to cycle in Hidden Europe; but what about the gravel tracks? Those aren’t so easy to find, so let us help you!
We love finding great gravel tracks to take our Gravelventure guests on; and the track down past Regietów in Beskid Niski ranks high up on our list.
Unique Gravel Experience
Beskid Niski is a unique place for gravel cycling in part due to historical events that led to the relocation of the ethnic group of Łemko people in the mid 20th century. Settlements and the roads leading to them were abandoned overnight. Villages melted into the landscape as nature took back control of the region.
Now, wild animals roam the terrain. A healthy bear, wolf and bird population are present (don’t worry, you are highly unlikely to encounter any). You will however come across the remains of the villages and cemeteries that signal a life that once existed here.
The area around Regietów is just such a place.
What makes Regietów even more interesting is what Google Maps doesn’t tell you. The ability to leave the valley along the Poland/Slovakia border to create an onward journey and combine it into a longer route.
Of course, it can’t always be smooth gravel tracks; sometimes you need to add the ‘venture’ into the Gravelventure. In 2018, after having ridden the roads for the first time in the dry during our recon rides, we were presented with a rain-soaked version after a sudden deluge during the Gravelventure.
Did that stop the guests having fun? Quite the contrary, they enjoyed it even more!
Ride the Gravel with Podia
We spend hours seeking out the most interesting places to ride with our Gravelventure guests on. The Beskid Niski Gravelventure is a once a year opportunity to explore, quite literally, off-the-beaten-track.
You still have time to ride these roads with us! Join the trip at the end of May where we still have some places available.
