Sometimes we come across the most beautiful bikes in unexpected places. This was just the case while riding up Pohorje in Maribor, Slovenia.
Five kilometres from the top of the climb brothers Filip and Jernej rode up to us and said hello. Slender as pro climbers, the brothers were not riding the kind of bikes we expected. Jernej was riding a Wittson Ti (more on that bike soon) and Filip had a fetching Pegoretti Duende.
The Pegoretti is what caught our eyes first; the bright colours were an embodiment of Dario’s character. The playfulness and charisma of the great frame builder and artist was there in front of us climbing a mountain in Slovenia.
We stopped at the top for coffee, which presented the perfect chance to shoot the bike.
A lightweight build with the beautiful Campagnolo Hyperon wheels and Super Record groupset. The subtle Fizik cockpit lets the amazing paintwork really stand out.
A fine build that pays homage to the master frame builder. RIP Dario.
